Time Management
Each day you have only 24 hours to complete your daily tasks. To get it all done you need to make time for you. You cannot add or subtract hours from a day so the alternative is to organize and prioritize. The helpful hints below will help you take control of your time and manage it effectively.
- Keep a log of how you spend your time and then review it to discover if there is wasted time.
- Set goals and priorities for the day, week, month, and year. Ask yourself how you can modify your current daily tasks to meet your goals.
- Attend to your immediate time needs.
- Record important dates and deadlines on a calendar.
- Identify available hours in the day, and keep them open for personal time.
- Make time for you! You are your number one priority each day.
- Think small, achievable, and manageable. Divide large goals into small goals and schedule them on your calendar.
- Reward yourself for completing tasks.
- At the beginning of each week, make a schedule. Each evening, plan your tasks for the next twenty-four hours. You will rest much better knowing tomorrow canĀ proceed on schedule.
- Overestimate how long it will take you to do a task.
- Try to avoid interruptions or distractions by turning off phones, social media, and / or relocating to a quiet study space.
