Rape and/or Sexual Assault
If you have been raped or sexually assaulted and the Student Health Center is closed, call 911. You may also choose to call 919-828-3067, The Solace Center (located at InterAct’s Family Safety and Empowerment Center).
Normal Business Hours
If you are a female who has been raped or sexually assaulted, come to Women’s Health on the second floor of the Student Health Center. If you are a male who has been raped or sexually assaulted, come to the Medical Clinic on the first floor of the Student Health Center. We will prioritize your visit. You may bring a friend with you, if you wish. Or, you can contact The Solace Center at 919-828-3067.
We will ask if you wish to press criminal charges. We will not try to persuade you in your decision, but we will discuss the available options. If you wish to press charges, Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE) Center at The Solace Center must collect evidence within 120 hours. Survivors age 16 and older and have no injuries that require medical attention are eligible for services.. In order to preserve evidence, do not change your clothes, shower, bathe, douche, or brush your teeth. Save the clothing you wore during the assault in a paper bag or pillowcase. Do not disturb the location where the assault occurred.
Student Health Services will perform STI (sexually transmitted infection) tests and treatment for exposure at no cost. If you are concerned about pregnancy, emergency contraception plan B is available at the Student Health Pharmacy. Make an appointment with the NC State’s Women’s Center by calling 919-515-2012 or 919-624-9575 for additional support.
